Taylor Swift reportedly wants to become a movie star.
The Grammy award-winning singer has found international fame with her catchy music and has scored several number ones over the years. While she has dabbled with acting in the past, having starred in rom-com Valentine's Day and making a cameo in TV series New Girl, Taylor reportedly wants to broaden her horizons.
"Taylor badly wants to be a movie star," a source told RadarOnline. "She's determined to prove herself as an actress and not simply a singer who dabbles in movies."
Later this year Taylor will be seen on the big screen opposite Meryl Strep in sci-fi movie The Giver. With jobs coming her way, the 24-year-old star reportedly feels more determined than ever to gain a leading role which doesn't incorporate her musical talents.
"Taylor is now under pressure to make her first major movie deal. She has been offered the moon, technically, about $10 million, to make a concert film in the vein of Justin Bieber and Katy Perry's efforts, but Taylor's policy of aiming high has put the kibosh on those plans," the insider added.
"She doesn't just want to be known as a singer, so she's trying to get aligned with some high profile, non-musical productions."
Many of her videos have been helmed by famous names in the industry, such as Anthony Mandler for I Knew You Were Trouble. Anthony has worked with other big names such as Lana Del Rey, Rihanna and Nicki Minaj. While on set, Taylor's performance skills are said to be the focus of attention.
"The directors are asked to encourage and nurture Taylor's acting skills above all else. Still, the clock is ticking and Taylor's reps are intent on having her locked into a potential breakout role before the end of summer," the source continued.
"She's finished her new album and is now busy reading every script she can get her hands on."
Taylor has previously spoken out about her interest in acting. A couple of years ago she shared her appreciation for stars on the big and small screen.
"When I look at acting careers that I really admire, I see that it's been a precise decision-making process for these people," she explained.
"They make decisions based on what they love and they do only the things that they are passionate about. They play only characters that they can't stop thinking about."
