The country music star has her own apartment in the American city, which she moved in to last year. She gets musical inspiration from Nashville, which is why she was so devastated when floods hit the area last year. The natural disaster affected many of those close to Taylor, so she has done all she can to help raise money for relief.
“Nashville is the town I love the most in the world and when the floods hit in May 2010, many people in my community experienced significant loss. I was here when it was raining for days and days and days. People dear to me, people who play on stage with me every night, lost their houses,” she explained.
“Nashville has recovered in the most incredible way, but there are still people here who are struggling to put their lives back together. I know we’ll get there, but it’ll take time.”
The 21-year-old has done all she can to raise awareness of the situation. She was amazed by how little was reported about the disaster, so has made it her mission to talk about it whenever she can.
“I got involved by donating, taking part in Tim McGraw and Faith Hill’s concert [Nashville Raising: a Benefit for Flood Recovery] and speaking out about the crisis as much as I could, since it sort of went unnoticed by the national media,” she explained to InStyle magazine.
