He's an up-and-coming pop star with several hit singles, has a debut album in the works and is spending his upcoming weeks alongside Taylor Swift on her Red Tour; it has to be good to be Austin Mahone.
MTV News recently caught up with the 16-year-old singer, and knowing that Mahone is a big fan of football and basketball (occasionally playing shirtless), we decided to test his skills at a sport we may have a chance at winning: bowling. Watch the video to see how Austin does!
After trading strikes early on, and changing some of the scoring rules, Mahone soon made it apparent that this was his game to win. Proving that he's an all-around athlete, the "Say Somethin' " singer bowled an impressive five strikes throughout the game, eventually taking the win. Yet, what he failed to mention beforehand is that he does practice his bowling moves every now and then.
"We go bowling every once in a while," Mahone said of what he does with his friends.
In between knocking down pins, Mahone, who is planning to release his album this fall, spilled some details on going on his first-ever tour with Swift, saying fans can expect "new singles, more dancing and a band." Yet, he also revealed what it was like the moment he found out he was joining the Red Tour for several dates.
"I was speechless. My manager called me. They are like, 'We originally wanted to get a song with you and Taylor,' but Taylor's manager was like, 'Forget the song, let's go on tour,' and I was like, 'Why not?' I'd rather go on tour than do a song. You know, a song might come out of that."
This won't be the first time Mahone has met Swift, the two had a chance encounter last year, before he got his big break.
"I only talked to her a year ago. I was in Nashville. She walked into this café, and I wasn't sure if it was her, but I went up to her and was like, 'Hey, are you Taylor Swift?' And she was like 'Yeah,' and I was like 'Can I get a picture?" Mahone recalled. "So I got a picture and then I was like, 'I'm on YouTube. I'm a singer,' and she was like, 'That's really cool. Keep up the hard work, and never give up on your dreams.' Now, a year later, I'm going on tour with her. I haven't seen her since. Hopefully, she will remember me. If not, I have pictures to prove it."
