The Doors Ray Manzarek and Robbie Krieger visited the gravesite of Jim Morrison on Sunday to mark the 40th anniversary of Morrison's death.
Jim Morrison, lead singer for The Doors, died on July 2, 1971. The official cause of death was listed as heart failure although that has never been proven.
Keyboard player Manzarek and guitarist Krieger spent Sunday with fans of The Doors lighting candles at the Pere Lachaise cemetery.
Morrison moved to Paris in March 1971 and rented an apartment on rue Beautreillis on the Right Bank.
Police ruled out foul play in the death but there was never an autopsy. His partner Pamela Courson found Morrison dead in his bathtub. She gave conflicting reports after his death including stating that Jim died from a heroine overdose and also blamed herself for his death because he died from her drugs. Courson died from a drug overdose three years later taking her secret to the grave.
Morrison's gravesite at the Pere Lachaise cemetery is a popular tourist attraction for fans.
The Doors recorded 6 album with Jim Morrison as lead singer between 1967's self titled debut and the final Jim album 'L.A. Woman' in 1971. The band continued on as a three piece for two more albums after Jim's departure with Robbie and Ray doing vocals.
