It's down to the wire on "The Voice." With only four contestants left, the pressure was on Trevin Hunte, Nicholas David, Cassadee Pope and Terry McDermott during Monday night's show to win America's heart.
The short evening was led by Shelton's season guest mentor, Michael Bublé, who helped set the holiday mood with an upbeat jazz rendition of "Baby Please Come Home." Shelton also performed last night, calling back his entire 16-member team to join him in singing "White Christmas." The elated former contestants called moment unforgettable.
Trevin Hunte kicked it off for the contestants with his signature ballads. The more confident Hunte was in his element, taking on Bette Midler's "Wind Beneath My Wings," a song that took Aguilera back to her young, wedding singer days, although the diva admits she "never sang it so crazy beautiful as that."
Rounding out Team Cee Lo was the soul man himself, Nicholas David. He sang "You Are So Beautiful" mere feet from his precious family, to whom he dedicated the song, leaving them and the audience in tears. "We with you," a glassy-eyed Green said, keeping it simple.
Up next was Cassadee Pope, whose coach Blake Shelton hand-picked her song for the night. Clad in a beautiful gown, the young pop rocker belted another country song "Stupid Boy," a decision Shelton defended saying her uncanny ability to connect with lyrics made that song a clear choice. The decision paid off when Pope received accolades from Xtina herself. "Sometimes your voice sounds so on that it sounds Auto-Tuned," she said. "Blake, you have a true superstar on your hands."
The night's final performance came from Scottish rocker Terry McDermott, who took on the "sacred" song "Let It Be." Levine thanked God for Terry calling his performance "incredible," while Shelton went so far as to say, "In my absolute heart, I believe that was musical perfection."
Unlike weeks past, only one contestant will be eliminated Tuesday night, with the final three qualifying to the last live performance before the winner is announced. Let the nail-biting begin.
