Following on from one of the most well received 16 minutes of music in recent history (2007's A Lesson In Crime EP), Ontario's favorite sons TOKYO POLICE CLUB confirm the completion and release of their first full length album, Elephant Shell, due out late April on Memphis Industries in the UK and Ireland and Memphis Industries/Cooperative in Continental Europe.
Tokyo Police Club was formed in 2004 by David Monks (vocals, bass), Josh Hook (guitar), Graham Wright (keyboards) and Greg Alsop (drums) during their senior year in high school. Within two and a bit years they had released the aforementioned EP, eliciting raves on both sides of the Atlantic: Rolling Stone ("If only all young guitar bands were smart enough to rock out this fast"); The Guardian ("Short sharp bursts of nonchalant arrogance. Thrilling"); NME "The most perfect, weirdly askew band the other side of the pond has produced since Pavement"); the single Cheer it On one of 6 Music's tracks of 07; the band themselves one of Colin Murray/Radio 1's bands of 07. Since then, Tokyo Police Club has been touring virtually non-stop, playing variously Glastonbury, Coachella and Reading/Leeds, selling out their first and only headline shows in the UK in double quick time, pausing to release a stand alone 7" "Your English Is Good", then plunging head first into the recording of Elephant Shell.
