Big Sean: Kids are misdiagnosed

Big Sean thinks modern kids are often "misdiagnosed" by doctors.

The 27-year-old Blessings rapper graduated from Cass Technical High School in Detroit with an impressive 3.7 GPA.

He recently opened up a recording studio at his alma mater and Big Sean is happy to introduce innovative ways of learning to the educational institution.

"Me and Adidas [Originals] teamed up and I just opened my own recording studio in the high school for the kids," he told MTV News. "Education is changing, man. A lot of these kids, they're out of the traditional way of learning. We try and misdiagnose them with things like ADD or this and that, and sometimes it may be the case, sometimes it's not. Sometimes, they're addicted to their phones because that's how they're learning now. Things are changing. This is a step forward in that direction."

Although Big Sean is excited over the prospect of his recording studio fostering future musicians, he has great hopes for all students taking part in the programme.

The star just wants teenagers to learn how the process of creativity can provide dynamic solutions in life.

"They can learn so much, from engineering, to recording, to just creating," Big Sean said. "The possibilities are endless."

Sean's motto has always been to keep it real and it seems fans appreciate his approach.

The success of his recent single I Don't F**k with You proved to him the value of authenticity.

"It even got a little bigger than I thought. I saw Gwyneth Paltrow singing it on Jimmy Fallon one time and I said this track is for real. People can relate to just real stuff. That's what that song showed me, no matter how much cursing is in it or this or that, as long as you keep it real, people are going to support it," he told The Daily Beast previously.
