Overview
The 29-year-old recently filed papers to end her marriage to the music producer Jordan Bratman and friends say she is focusing on their two-year-old son Max.
A pal said to PEOPLE: 'She's focusing on continuing to be a great mom. She's spending as much time as she can with Max.'
The friend added: 'Max is her number one concern. She's making a huge effort to continuing to be a good mum through this transition for him.'
The pair are now planning to work together on bringing up the little boy despite the divorce.
The friend said: 'It's hard. You've got to handle it with dignity. I don't think they've figured out everything yet. They have a child together, so they're trying to do what's best.'
