The American pop star recently made her big screen debut in the film Burlesque, which also stars singing legend Cher.
The 29-year-old, who plays a small-town girl who finds love and happiness in a Los Angeles neo-burlesque club, has revealed the film’s writer and director Steve Antin didn’t necessarily cast her for her singing talent. In fact he was impressed with her wise-cracking personality when she was a guest on Saturday Night Live.
“When I (played) Samantha, one of the many amazing women of Sex and The City, Clint and Steve, the director, were both rolling with laughter,” Christina told Access Hollywood. “They said, ‘She’s got comic chops and she’d be great in this role.’”
Christina has been busy promoting the movie in the wake of her split from her husband of nearly five years Jordan Bratman.
The pair, who have a two-year-old son Max together, announced their separation a few weeks ago.
Christina says she is battling on despite her heartache and that her son’s emotional well-being remains her priority as she tries to move on with her life.
“Some moments are harder than others,” Christina said. “I’m under a lot of stuff right now as far as my work, and balancing everything as a mom. My son couldn’t be happier.”
