Rockstar Games has announced that classic title Grand Theft Auto III will be released on mobile devices.
The 2001 game, one of the first true open-world titles, will be re-released on phones and tablets to commemorate its tenth anniversary.
It will be playable on the iPad 2 and iPhone 4S, as well as Android devices such as HTC Evo 2, Samsung Galaxy S2 and the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1.
Originally released on the PlayStation 2, GTA III was the first 3D adventure in the game's series, and offered a vast world - Liberty City - to explore.
It became the best-selling release of 2001, and helped Grand Theft Auto become one of the gaming industry's true giants.
Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars was released on iPhone and iPad in 2010.
The new version of GTA III will be available for gamers to try at the New York Comic-Con this weekend, and is expected to be released by the end of October.
