This fall the world has been entranced by Jake Gyllenhaal and Taylor Swift's romance, watching them canoodle their way through coffee shops and ice cream parlors. So when an Us Weekly report hit the Web indicating that Gwyneth Paltrow might have been the one to introduce them, USA Today made it its job to find out about the alleged November dinner party the Oscar winner hosted for the pair.
"Where is this coming from?" Paltrow asked the newspaper. "I've just known Jake for a long time and he's a great guy, and [husband Chris Martin] has a friendship with Taylor."
Paltrow, who's currently doing press for her role as a country singer in the film "Country Strong," added that she didn't want to say much else about it. "Well, I'm scared to say," she said. "It's so weird. I wonder how people find out these things. It was a while ago, so I don't know why it would come out today."
While Paltrow was tight-lipped, a source was eager to share all with Us. "Jake and Taylor were driven from the Dorchester Hotel to Gwyneth and Chris Martin's house in Primrose Hill for dinner. Gwyneth seems to have played a role in their relationship," the source said.
Neither Swift nor Gyllenhaal has said much about their relationship, but back in November, shortly after the couple was first spotted together, Swift said, "I'm always optimistic about love. Yes, always, sometimes."
