In the latest issue of her GOOP newsletter she admitted she has been moved by the efforts people have gone to to help the people of Japan following their devastating earthquake.
She said: 'As we have watched Japan surmount the insurmountable in these past few weeks, we have been in genuine awe of the courage, organisation and strength of the people as they struggle to cope and get back on track.
'There are many ways to help. I made my donation to the Red Cross and have recently been inspired by other efforts being made by charities such as Charity Buzz and EMI's Ebay auction to raise money for Japan.
'Itunes, meanwhile, has released a Songs for Japan Album.'
Her husband Chris Martin was involved in the EMI eBay auction with his band Coldplay, who donated Martin's Viva La Vida jacket as well as a gold disc.
Their jacket and disc has already attracted 45 bids with the highest currently (8th April) at £1,020.
