The ‘Country Strong’ actress - who is married to Coldplay frontman Chris Martin – admitted she recently allowed six-year-old Apple to stay at home during term time because she just “needed” some bonding time with the youngster.
She said: “I'll probably get kicked out of our school for admitting this, but I let Apple stay home yesterday. I just needed to be with her.
“We went out to lunch, we went to the beauty salon, we were together.”
However, 38-year-old Gwyneth admitted Apple’s day off caused problems at home when her daughter told her four-year-old brother Moses he would be allowed to skip lessons too.
Apple told him: "Tomorrow is your day to stay home from school."
Although with juggling her responsibilities as a mother, Gwyneth admitted her marriage is not always perfect but said she and 33-year-old Chris try to communicate as much as possible.
She explained to America’s Good Housekeeping magazine: "Marriage is hard. Chris and I have had our ups and downs, big-time. Marriage is way more complicated than just, ‘Who gets to control the remote?’ But hopefully we keep heading in the same direction and getting through the obstacles.
"I'm a good talker. I definitely have to coax things out of him when we talk. You know, he's British, so it's a different lexicon totally. But you have to communicate. Otherwise there's no relationship
"I can depend on him. He makes me laugh. He's really appreciative of me. You know, he makes me feel special."
