The theatre is getting like television. They get a hold of a concept and repeat it until it's driven into the ground.
The Jukebox Musical has had both very successful (Mamma Mia!, We Will Rock You, Jersey Boys) and some not so successful (Come Fly With Me, the Frank Sinatra musical). The latest artist who may be getting the treatment is the Go-Go's and it may have an Academy Award-winning actress at the helm.
The Hollywood Reporter has said that Gwyneth Paltrow is in negotiations to produce the currently unnamed show with Donovan Leitch and Rick Ferrari.
While an actual show may be some time off, a source told the paper that the women in the group are considering working with the producers and possibly writing a couple of new songs. The producers are also currently negotiating with a number of Broadway scribes to write the book for the show.
