Jessica Simpson will let her daughter "do what she wants to do" as she matures.
The star gave birth to her and fiancé Eric Johnson's daughter Maxwell Drew on May 1.
Jessica got into singing at a young age and should Maxwell decide to pursue her passion in her youth, the tyke has her mother's full support.
"I'm going to let Maxwell do what she wants to do," Jessica told iVillage.
"I mean, I'm definitely going to parent her the way my parents parented me… [but] when I was young, I was like, 'This is what I want to do,' and they supported me, and I was doing it by the time I was 14-years-old.
"I think it's important to encourage from a young age that whatever you're passionate about -- go for it!"
Jessica is extremely successful and runs a fashion label that continues to grow.
The multitalented star is looking for professional opportunities that will allow her to spend more time with her daughter.
"I think doing a sitcom is something I really want to do," Jessica shared.
"[I would] be able to be with my daughter every day on set."
