Jessica Simpson has reportedly cancelled plans for a destination wedding.
The singer and former American football player Eric Johnson announced their engagement in November 2010 and were seen last October vacationing in Capri, Italy, where they were reportedly scouting venues.
But according to Us Weekly, Jessica and Eric have decided instead to "keep it simple" with a local ceremony in the Los Angeles area.
A source purportedly close to the couple told the outlet they feared it would be "too much" to ask friends and family to attend a destination wedding.
The insider said Jessica and Eric think LA nuptials will be "easier to plan" and "less expensive", although they have reportedly yet to nail down a venue.
Jessica and Eric share two children, 22-month-old Maxwell Drew and eight-month-old Ace Knute.
The pregnancies have caused the couple to push back their wedding date on two occasions, although Jessica is now looking forward to walking down the aisle.
"I've been pulling all kinds of sketches for dresses and colours. It's a good goal for me. It's good for me to feel the best I've ever felt when I walk down the aisle," she told USA Today in December of getting ready for her big day.
"I can't even think about being pregnant again right now. I would never say never," she laughed.
The 33-year-old star also called Eric an "unbelievable dad" and said she feels lucky to have him in her life.
The marriage will be the second for both the bride and groom, with Jessica ending her high-profile nuptials to Nick Lachey in 2006.
