Singer-turned-business mogul Jessica Simpson has become the unlikely new face of Budget Rental Car.
The pop star, who owns a billion-dollar namesake fashion empire, features in two new commercials for the discount car rental firm, which premiered on Monday (11Apr16).
Jessica's new endorsement deal has left some fans puzzled by the odd association, but Scott Deaver, executive vice president and chief marketing officer of parent company Avis Budget Group, insists her playful nature and family-orientated lifestyle made for a perfect match.
"Jessica Simpson embodies the joyful, exuberant entrepreneurial spirit of our customers and is a great fit for the brand," he says in a statement. "She's a professional busy mom of two who values the time she spends with her family."
He continues, "We believe that Budget is the leading value car rental brand in America and is ideal for anyone who wants to get away for the weekend or the week, or for avoiding the paparazzi if you're an entertainment superstar."
His comments are a reference to one of the blonde beauty's new ads, titled Paparazzi, in which the singer is featured running away from a pack of photographers, reports GossipCop.com.
In the second promo, called, "You've Arrived", Jessica is shown using her cell phone's GPS system to find the ideal "family getaway". The mapping system directs her to a rental car so she can go wherever she wants.
"Oh, perfect," Jessica exclaims. "A SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) from Budget!"
She then suggests she was a regular customer before signing on as a brand ambassador, saying, "I like to be spontaneous with my family. We are always up for an adventure!
"Wherever we go, Budget Rental Car makes the experience easy, affordable and so much fun."
