Jessica Simpson has joked "protection went out the window" after she gave birth to her first child.
The TV star is currently expecting another baby with her fiancé Eric Johnson. Jessica has previously admitted she hadn't planned to expand her family so soon after the arrival of daughter Maxwell last year. Jessica was interviewed by Ellen DeGeneres for the Wednesday edition of her talk show and has joked about the surprise of conceiving again.
"We were definitely extremely shocked," she revealed. "Apparently, protection just went out the window. I feel like I'm always pregnant. We're very happy.
"Maxwell was our focus and then I was puking and lying on the couch."
The 32-year-old star also admitted that she is feeling very different this time around. While Jessica felt she bloomed when she was expecting Maxwell, the beauty has been left drained during her second pregnancy. She also revealed she is following a sensible eating plan, after gaining a significant amount when she got pregnant the first time.
"Like with Maxwell, I felt amazing. Like, I could do everything, eat everything. Do whatever I wanted. I had a lot of energy. This time around... I'm like, exhausted, eating Tums. That's my snack of choice!" Jessica laughed. "This time around I think because I was doing Weight Watchers and I felt super healthy, I'm not really craving as much and I know how hard it is [to take the weight off] so I'm trying to make healthier, wiser decisions."
Jessica also spoke about her relationship with Eric. She quipped that her fiancé has always been very attracted to her, even when she was battling her weight shortly after giving birth.
"Apparently Eric still wanted me so... I can gain as much weight and I will have a husband-to-be that loves me!" Jessica smiled.
During the interview, Ellen attempted to persuade Jessica to divulge the sex of her baby.
There have been reports the blonde star is expecting a boy, but she was reluctant to discuss the rumours.
"Well I don't know," she told Ellen. "I haven't said what it's going to be yet."
Ellen then held up two onesies and said she wanted to give one to Maxwell. The talk show host asked Jessica to choose either 'I ? my baby sister' or 'I ? my baby brother', and when Jessica stalled on making a decision Ellen handed her the baby boy shirt saying, "That's my guess".
"Maybe I'll take this one," Jessica replied. "If it's a girl, she might call him bro."
