Jessica Simpson says true love only exists when you accept someone for "who they are".
The singer-and-actress – whose exes include Nick Lachey, John Mayer and American footballer Tony Romo – believes many relationships fail because people want to change their partners.
She tweeted: "You can't love someone else to change them. Happiness comes from accepting who they are. It is our decision to really know who we love."
Jessica was most recently romantically linked to Smashing Pumpkins rocker Billy Corgan, although the musician later claimed he was only hanging out with Jessica to work on the theme song for her latest TV series 'The Price of Beauty'.
He said: "I ended up writing part of the theme song. She asked me to help her out. It has a little bit of an alternative rock edge, but it's still very poppy."
Despite her romantic woes, Jessica is now looking for a new guy, and has decided she wants an "artistic man".
She said: "My next husband will be an artistic man. It will show you the colours of my character, the person that I fall in love with next.
"I don't even have a type! I don't have a physical type. I have an emotional type."
