The 30-year-old classical singer is one of the world’s most popular performers, and has achieved acclaim for her albums such as Living a Dream and Believe.
Katherine is baffled as to why some people think she could behave like a diva, and has recalled an embarrassing incident where the chocolate she had requested backstage wasn’t delivered.
“I was in Japan recently and this poor man kept bowing to me and apologising because he couldn’t find a bar of Green & Blacks. He truly thought I wasn’t going to perform,” she blushed.
“Look, I ask for a bar of Green & Blacks chocolate because I don’t eat before shows and I need a quick sugar fix afterwards. I have no idea where this ‘demanding diva’ thing came from.”
The talented songstress recently branched into acting, and will appear in a special episode of British television show Doctor Who over Christmas. Katherine didn’t have any acting experience before landing the role, although she is now keen to explore her acting talent further.
“I never thought there would be anything I would enjoy as much as singing. But I certainly was bitten by the bug. I could see myself doing more acting. And I just love the idea of my future children saying: ‘Look, there’s mum in Doctor Who,’” she told British newspaper The Daily Telegraph.
Speaking of children, the multi-talented star admits that when she finally settles down with her television presenter boyfriend Gethin Jones she plans to reduce her workload so she can focus on motherhood. Katherine thinks that could be a long way off though, as she’s still very busy with her career.
“I don’t want to be the sort of mum who drags the kids around the world on tour. I want to pack in as much as I can now, before having a family,” she explained.
