Four times MOBO award nominee Laura Mvula and two time winners So Solid Crew are announced to perform at this year's 18th anniversary MOBO awards show taking place on Saturday 19th October at Glasgow's SSE Hydro.
They join already announced artists on the night, Rudimental, Tinie Tempah and Iggy Azalea with the remaining five top secret acts to be revealed shortly.
Following the announcement of Rudimental, Tinie Tempah and Australian rapper Iggy Azalea earlier this summer, the MOBO Awards has added UK Garage favourites So Solid Crew and four-time MOBO Award nominee, Laura Mvula to its highly anticipated line-up. The remaining five top secret acts will be revealed shortly.
After a star-studded London nominations launch earlier this month, this year's categories see the likes of Disclosure, Naughty Boy, Rudimental and Wretch 32 in the running for awards, with Laura Mvula and Wiley in the lead with four nominations each. Each category is now open to the public vote which can be placed at www.mobo.com/voting2013.
2013 is not the first year for the So Solid Crew to set the MOBO Awards stage alight. In 2001, the group took home awards for Best Newcomer and Best UK Garage Act. After making plenty of noise at this year's nominations party, Mega Man from the So Solid Crew knows how to get the fans in the mood: "Get ready for one of So Solid's biggest stage performances yet! For everybody who witnessed us on the 2001 MOBO Awards we're going to bring the house down – the So Solid way!!"
The MOBO Awards return to Glasgow for the third time as the result of a very successful partnership between the MOBO Organisation, EventScotland and Glasgow City Marketing Bureau. To mark the arrival of the Awards, there will be events around the city from mid-October, giving residents, local businesses and ticket holders the chance to get involved in a range of related activities. It will be the first multi-artist, televised event at the brand new SSE Hydro and will help to show Glasgow as a true destination for live music.
This year's 18th anniversary show is set to be our biggest yet!" says inspirational MOBO Awards founder and CEO, Kanya King MBE. "MOBO turning 18 is a huge achievement and we have some truly incredible artists on the shortlist who demonstrate the diverse range of music that is at the heart of British youth culture and beyond. Our aim has always been to give a platform and voice to emerging and established artists of MOBO music - we celebrate these artists all year round. We're really proud of the nominees and wish them all the best with the public vote and the show in Glasgow on October 19!"
