Steve Martin and Edie Brickell recently had a major bluegrass hit on their hands with the album Love Has Come For You, including a tour in support of the release, but it seems they've been working on something else in their spare time.
The duo have written a new musical, Bright Star, which they hope to workshop on March 6 and 7 through the assistance of the Old Globe. Martin is responsible for the music and the book (story) while Brickell contributed both music and lyrics.
The show, which uses flashbacks to help a young man, who has just returned from World War II, to discover a dark secret from his past will include both songs from Martin and Brickell's album along with additional original compositions.
Bright Star will be directed by Tony winner Walter Bobbie (Chicago) with music direction by Rob Berman (White Christmas).
