After pulling into the #1 spot last week with more than 1.2 million copies sold, Taylor Swift continued her reign of Red with 344, 000 in new sales. But despite Swift's domination, MMG rapper Meek Mill made an impressive showing with his debut Dreams and Nightmares, especially in light of Hurricane Sandy's toll on the East Coast, pulling into #2 with approximately 165,000 copies sold, according to Nielsen SoundScan.
Compton rapper Kendrick Lamar who found himself at #2 last week with his studio debut good kid, m.A.A.d city slipped down a few notches to #5, while Rod Stewart claimed #3 with Merry Christmas Baby. Mumford & Sons were at #7 with Babel (44,000), Carrie Underwood's Blown Away slipped in at #12 (24,000), while Pink landed at #14 with Truth About Love (22,000) and Lady Antebellum rounded out the top 15 with their holiday album On This Winter's Night (21, 000).
On the iTunes chart, the top four songs remained unchanged. South Korean rapper Psy held onto #1 with "Gangnam Style," above "Locked Out of Heaven" by Bruno Mars, "Die Young" by Ke$ha and "One More Night" by Maroon 5. Rihanna's "Diamonds" claimed the #5 spot, putting Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" at #6, followed by Fun's "Some Nights," Flo Rida's "I Cry" and Taylor Swift again at #9 with "I Knew You Were Trouble." The Band Perry rounded out the top ten with "Better Dig Two."
Naturally, Taylor Swift's Red also topped the iTunes album charts, with Meek Mill's Dreams and Nightmares at #2 and Kendrick Lamar's good kid, m.A.A.d city at #3. Mumford & Sons claimed #5 with Babel followed by Kid Rock with Rebel Soul at #7 and One Direction at #8 with Take Me Home: Yearbook Edition.
