Big Sean Looks To 'Strike An Emotional Chord' On Hall of Fame Single

Now that Big Sean is finally famous, the Detroit MC is ready to enter rap's figurative hall of fame. Last month, the G.O.O.D. Music MC revealed the title for his upcoming sophomore album (Hall of Fame) and now Sean is planning to go in a different direction than his fans may be used to on the LP's first single.

"It ain't no turn-up song. I wanted to do something a little bit different. I wanted to do some sh-- that I really was inspired by, something that strikes an emotional chord in people," Sean told rap blog HipHop-N-More on Friday night after a show in Atlantic City, New Jersey. "I'm not going by the label's standards. I'm not going by the club standards. It's just what the f--- I wanna do."

The way Sean figures it is he's already given fans club bangers like "Dance (A$$)" and his current G.O.O.D. Music "Clique." He doesn't say that he won't provide those type of moments on Hall of Fame, but he is moving with a specific aim, especially on the production end. "I'd like to keep it to not too many producers so it can sound like a body of work," Sean said before saying that Chicago mentor and newcomer Key Wane will provide most of the album's sound bed. "It's a lot of No I.D. on there production-wise. It's a lot from Key Wane, and I think that's what adds a new element to it on the production side. It's a lot of Key Wane production."

Of course G.O.O.D. Music head honcho Kanye West will contribute, both behind the boards and vocally. Sean also told the site that Nas and soul singer Jhené Aiko will appear as well.
