Barring a freakish mid-20s growth spurt, chances are Big Sean won't get any bigger than he is now, but after landing at #6 on MTV's Hottest MCs in the Game VIII list, the G.O.O.D. Music spitter promises a ton of artistic growth.
"Wow thanks to @MTV 4 saying I was a star on Cruel Summer n My Detroit mixtape n features were crazy last year. #6 hottest MC is awesome," Sean tweeted on Monday while he was out on tour in Berlin. "I promise Hall Of Fame won't disappoint ... I spent a lot of time on it to make it just right ... n next year we'll at least be top 5 MC's."

Last year Sean debuted on the Hottest list, landing at #8 thanks to his efforts on his debut album, Finally Famous. Though he hasn't dropped an LP since, the Midwest MC was able to stake a higher post on this year's list thanks to his contributions on G.O.O.D. Music's Cruel Summer LP and his own Detroit mixtape. "He's grown, he's gotten better; he's gotten more mature and I see kids actually modeling themselves after him," argued MTV2's "The Week in Jams" story producer Renaud Jean-Baptiste. "His impact is being felt."
Sean's placement on the Hottest MCs in the Game VIII list is interesting because for the first time he placed higher than his mentor Kanye West. Though we've never heard Yeezy say it (because he rarely does press), Sean once told us that 'Ye told him that he was going to sit on top of the game. "He actually told me that I was going to be the best. But I took that as the potential, because he speaks with so much passion," Big Sean told uslast June.
With the early buzz around his sophomore LP, Hall of Fame, and its lead single, "Guap," we wouldn't be surprised if Big Sean does enough to crack the top five next year.
