The star confirmed the bizarre celebrity spectacle, saying: “It was me on the overpass … I like to make people’s commute a little more fun!”
The astonishing sight of the former Baywatch hunk waving at strangers was witnessed by hundreds of drivers, including US country singer LeAnn Rimes, who later Tweeted about his oddball behaviour above the busy 101 Freeway.
“Omg, David Hasselhoff is standing on a freeway overpass in LA waving to people,” Rimes posted on her Twitter account. “Seriously!!! Can someone explain? Laughing so hard I’m crying right now.”
In a series of blazingly bonkers Twitter messages, Hasselhoff replied to Rimes’ actor boyfriend Eddie Cibrian, one of his co-stars on Baywatch.
Hasselhoff wrote: “HOFF MY ROCKER AND ALIVE AND WELL MISS YOU MAN HOPE U R LIVIN LARGE….”
