The votes are in and MTV's list for "Best Songs of the Year" is out!
Coming in at #9 on our countdown is British boy band The Wanted, who after learning the big news gave a shout out to the network — "Thank you! Thanks, MTV," Siva Kameswara said — and a huge round of applause for themselves.
They landed on MTV's list for their first U.S. single "Glad You Came," a song the guys envision as a June through September anthem. "I thought of America as, like, people having that song as the background of their summer this year," Jay McGuiness told. "That's a really cool thought."
It's not just MTV singing their praises either. Max George shared that the song has been getting "really good stats," including #1 on Billboard's Pop Songs list. "It's gone, like, quadruple platinum. Awesomely ridiculous," George said of the song.
MTV's picks were decided on by a brain trust that spanned companywide. From Lady Gaga to Britney Spears we received nominations for every big name in music, but not even half of this year's frontrunners could fit into our final ranking.
