The Wanted have no interest in being "fake" role models.
Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, Jay McGuiness, Tom Parker and Nathan Sykes make up the boy band known for speaking their minds. Although some of their comments may have ruffled a few feathers among their chart rivals, Siva would rather be candid than false.
"Our fans know us as being honest, so we give them an honest opinion. Some things [we've said] in the past have been a bit too extreme, but as long as people take us – and excuse all the naughty things we say – and focus on our music, I couldn't care," he told the latest issue of UK magazine Glamour. "The fans should know who their idols really are – the positives and the negatives. To be glossy – to be fake – I don't think it's good for the fans, because they buy into the person. They should buy into the truth, a role model you can trust. I think at heart we're good people."
The Wanted have worked hard to make it in the music industry. Releasing catchy tracks such as Glad You Came, Chasing the Sun and Walks Like Rihanna has helped them win over fans worldwide. They are looked after by Justin Bieber's manager Scooter Braun and have focused on trying to break America this year.
"Doing nightclubs with 20 people inside, or doing nightclubs when there's 2,000 people inside, but you interrupt their night by coming on stage and singing some songs they don't know, makes you appreciate the work you have to put in before you get to do an interview or go on TV," Max explained.
Although it has been a gruelling schedule, Nathan has no regrets about what they've had to sacrifice to make it. In fact, he believes every guy should spend time in a boy band.
"You get that hysteria, and it's an amazing thing. I would tell every lad in the country to experience this at some point because it's really f**king cool," he said. "I wouldn't change it for the world."
